The Aircraft Carrier Alliance needed to develop and deliver the strategy for achieving coherent certification of the Queen Elizabeth Carrier Class from an Explosives Safety and Environmental perspective through the design and build phases of the Vessels’ Life Cycle. 

 SDE deployed a Suitably Qualified and Experienced team led by a Senior Experienced Explosives Safety Manager who: 

• Produced the Explosives Safety and Environmental Management Plan and Certification Strategy. 
• Facilitated and Chaired the Ship Explosives Safety & Environmental Working Group.
• Facilitated HAZID, Risk Assessment and Risk Management forums.
• Produced the QEC Class Explosives Hazard Log.
• Produced and Updated the QEC Class Explosives Safety Case and associated Reports (CESC/CESCR).
• Produced Design Safety Justifications.
• Facilitated the issue of Certificates of Safety Explosives (CSE).
• Conducted safety assessment on new and updated weapon systems integration.
• Conducted Warship in Harbour assessment.

SDE provided Army HQ with clear, concise and unambiguous analysis of the decision support information required by the customer for selection of future APS capabilities in very tight timescales taking into account Equipment and wider DLOD issues.
